Kleopatra Theologidou Kalaitzis

Graduated in Architecture and Engineering at the Aristotle’s University of
Thessaloniki, Faculty of Engineering, School of Architecture and did post graduate
studies at the University of York, Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies,
Conservation Studies, where I got an MA degree in Conservation Studies.

At the time 1979-2001, I worked at the Ministry of Culture, 9 th Ephorate of
Byzantine Antiquities (Thessaloniki) and 11th Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities
(Veria) and I implemented a considerable number of conservation projects
of Byzantine and post Byzantine monuments and historic buildings, museum
and exhibitions design, management and supervision of works on site and
organization of cultural events to raise awareness for the protection of cultural
heritage.

From 2002 to 2008 as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Thessaly, School
of Architecture I undertook the lessons of Vernacular Architecture, Conservation
of Monuments and Sites and New buildings in Historic Settings.

Since 2007 I am scientific associate of the Mayor of the Municipality of Veria
responsible for the promotion of partnerships at national and European level
on different themes, management of territorial cooperation programs, strategic
planning and programming of development projects relevant to cultural heritage
and tourism and conservation projects for the upgrading and enhancement of
architectural heritage.

I have been a member in different scientific and steering committees; I have a
regular participation to conferences and workshops at national and international
level and publications mainly focused on the conservation, protection and
promotion of cultural property and cultural tourism and I have organized
exhibitions, conferences, workshops and cultural events

I participated to different European Cooperation Projects as a member of
scientific committees (5th Framework Program, Euromed Heritage II, Culture
2000) and I was an expert evaluator at the 6th framework program of the
European Community for research, technological development and demonstration
activities. As a local coordinator, among others, I participate to the URBACT II
LINKs project.

Projects of mine have been awarded at national and European level.
